Prior Learning and Transfer Policies and Procedures

ECPI University recognizes and welcomes students that arrive at our institution with diverse backgrounds and varied prior learning experiences. Undergraduate students may transfer up to 75% of the total credits required for their degree program from all combined sources. A maximum of 25% may be earned through ECPI Prior Learning Portfolio Assessment and Challenge Exams. Students must complete at least 25% of their program at ECPI University to be awarded a degree or diploma. Students should review the policies and procedures outlined in this section including any relevant program-specific policies and the standards for each type of prior learning.

ECPI University does not guarantee acceptance of credits from or to other institutions and evaluates credit based on standards set and approved by academic program leadership. Only official transcripts are considered for transfer credit. All official transcripts must be received and all prior learning credit must be approved before the end of the student’s first semester. Exceptions may be made to this deadline under extenuating circumstances. Active students may not enroll in courses outside ECPI University for the purpose of transferring credits.
